Knocking on doors...

I've had a rewarding time out knocking on doors all day-- something I haven't had time to do enough this year. I've received many terrific comments and good questions and its a great way to really understand what the citizens of the district think. Plus it was a great day for a good walk and to admire the signs of spring sprouting all over.

To everyone who took a minute to talk to me, thanks a lot!

Thanks for getting out and knocking on doors! The MGSD is lucky to have you on its board as a non-political fact-driven representative of our district children. Keep up the great work!

I agree with James and Monona Mom of 3. Thanks for all you do, Peter

Agreed 110% Peter. Good luck next week and in the years ahead. We are very lucky you wish to keep doing this.

Hey Peter, how can you and Pickel staple your political lit to PTO flyers? The PTO is endorsing the two of you? Isn't that against the rules? And why aren't you doing that in Monona, only Cottage Grove?

I've not been endorsed by the PTO, and yes that would not be appropriate. I do know that the PTO is distributing a "Get out the vote" flier about all the CG races - which is their perogative. It shouldn't be stapled to mine, however, that's not appropriate - and I had nothing to do with it. I assume it is individual volunteers doing the distribution just making it easier to do. I've asked that people stop.

I found the board's continula bickering on blogs to be funny.

Therefore, I think it should stop-shut down the blogs, you guys are out of hand messing around in your own crap and others crap.

Saw the flyer-Might I suggest that next year all PTO's sponsor lit drops for the whole district.

The flyer itself is very in your face and seems to push one community over another-not cool.

I saw the flyer too and I can't figure out what part of it was "in your face" or "seems to push one community over another."

It's a flyer asking CG residents to vote in all CG elections; town, village, school board, etc. Nothing un-cool about that.

It contrasts the two communities-is that not dividing?

How about a good out the vote flyer passed out by both PTOs that is the same....

Good Job Peter...

Seriously, what about laying off or outsourcing administrative services such as the $100,000+ per year paid to people like the "Business Manager" Mary Ellen.

Is Gerlach really worth the $150,000+ that he is being paid?

Please do not give the administrators a raise while you are laying off music teachers and possibly kitchen staff who got 0% this year.

1.4 M of the MGSD budget is for administrative services/benefits...wow.

The MG school district is in very sound financial shape compared to most other districts in wisconsin. Do you want to risk that by outsourcing our financial management? It would very quickly cost more than a few salaries, for example there are 5 WI districts that lost 10's of millions of dollars because of poor financial decisions, something we avoided.
