All Pie- All the time!

From now till Saturday this blog will be about nothing but Saturday's fundraiser at Winnequah School. Bring your friends. Heck they don't have to be friends, just bring 'em! The Event promises to be 4 hours of excellent food and great fun with great people.

In case you don't know what this is about, the Pie Party is a fundraiser for a great artist in Residence program for Winnequah School. Bakers in the community will be baking 200 pies of all description for you to taste, enjoy, vote for and take home. The Baker of the pie that raises the most money through your votes, donations and winning bid will win fabulous prizes; while you will enjoy the satisfaction of helping your community schools, great company and delicious pies to taste and take home.

The event is kid friendly, with pie themed games and activities for kids of all ages, from pie sculpting to pieku.

Stop by for a minute, or 4 hours, and don't forget your checkbook!

I have baked three pies-count them with varying levels of success-as practice

And now it is time for the big show.

SO-if I fail for a fourth time....

DO you think Perkins would be a mortal sin or just sin?
And what is the difference, anyway?

I think the pie event is a great idea for a fund raiser.
I don't mean to be disrespectful or disparage the efforts of the organizers but the door charge was too much for our family budget at this time and we didn't attend.
I hope that if this event is ever repeated that the organizers will reconsider the fee structure.
Again, I'm not trying to throw stones and I thank all the organizers who must have spent countless hours putting this together. It's often a thankless job and thanks for coming up with something new.

So what's the low down, Peter?
How did it go? Who won? How much money was raised?

Well - it went great. There was a constant flow of people, the pie was terrific and everyone had a good time. We don't know yet who won or how much we raised, but it looks like at least $5000.

That's fantastic! It's sure nice to have a fundraiser that brings people together to have fun rather than selling a bumch of stuff that nobody really wants. Congrats to everyone who worked so hard on this!!

It was a great event, and we are all looking forward to hearing the final totals, and the winners, etc, so keep us posted.

Kudos to the folks who worked so hard to put on a fun community event- I have to say that I agree with the poster above- I wonder if the pricing structure could be altered a bit.....
