Next week's business services agenda is here. Its not very exciting, but financial expert Paul Thompson of Hutchinson, Shockey, Erley & Co. will discuss post-retirement benefits and financing. Funding of post-retirement benefits is a key financial concern so this discussion should be of interest to anyone concerned about the long term financial health of the district.
If you scroll down to the bottom you will notice a calendar with board meetings and events marked. I will try to keep it up to date, but this unofficial and I make no guarantees to its accuracy. Please check the MG website for event times, events and locations.

like your calendar.
Its the Google calendar application at
http://www.google.com/calendar/
You can build your own calendar and then link in other public calendars, the MG calendars (also Google) can be found here:
http://www.mononagrove.org/Calendars/GCalendars/main.calendar.html
For example you could build your own calendar that shows on your google desktop that links to the MGHS schedules and events
The above prompts me to ask - aren't all the posts sent to you a public record if they pertain to school board issues because you are a school board member? I am not asserting that you are required to publish them (glad you don't sometimes) but do you keep all this stored somewhere in case there is a public record request? Have you talked to the school's attorney about this?
That is a good question. It may be that the posts here are public records if they pertain to current school board business. I do keep all the posts (even if I delete them here).
Doug Wood followed up on this question with the city attorney. His opinion is that comments sent for posting here should probably be treated as emails from the public and if they relate to school board business are subject to the open records law.
I have made a change to make sure everything gets archived as a result.
Since when do Doug Wood and the city attorney have jurisdiction over the school district?
If that is where you are looking for answers on the legalities of your handling of school district business, it makes me wonder about a lot of other things.
oh 'fer pete's sake. What's wrong with Doug and Peter discussing this and Doug sharing what Monona's attorney said? It's the same law that applies to both, and it's just one attorney's opinion. do you really want to spend school district funds asking it's own lawyer? Peter is saving the posts just to be safe and I am glad he didn't spend money asking the district's lawyer.
In spite of what I might think about this all-your comment is curious.
So you would rather have Doug spend money on city of Monona attorney time on school issues then Peter spend money with a lawyer from the district on school issues?
Doug has his own blog, so Doug asked the city attorney about how he should store posts that he doesn't choose to publish. Then, he shared that info with Peter. Doug and Peter are governed by the same law regarding open records, so Peter said he keeps all of the posts he doesn't publish on his blog. Seems reasonable to me. I think if hte opposite were the case (i.e., Monona's attorney said the records don't need to be retained) then that would be a problem if Peter is following that advice. But since Peter is saving the records, why on earth would he pursue this any further with legal counsel?
