Closed tomorrow...

Because a large number of the teaching staff have notified the district that they will be absent tomorrow the district's schools will be closed. All teacher's are expected to report for work tomorrow, and those who don't will be docked a day's pay.

Several other districts in the area have made the same decision and have cancelled classes.

Require doctor's excuses and extend the school year another day. We want what we paid for!

Wanker's bill reduces teacher compensation by about 10%. So that entitles them to 10% of the days off for the rest of the year under your logic!

If you want teachers to work full time then you should be prepared to pay them for full time.

Teachers work 1620 hours a year on average compared to the 2,000 hours other professions work. That is 19% less. Go to your jobs and teach those kids you say you care so much about.

Yes, but teachers only get paid for the 1620 hours they work each year. Teachers agreed to and signed a contract, but the budget repair bill breaches that contract.

I think the voters who voted for Walker in MOnona should be prepared to watch their land values drop like a land balloon.

I think whether you voted for him or not, your land values will be proportionally the same as everyone else's. That was a stupid comment. Work hard, move forward.

I want a 10% refund on my school property taxes. And I want someone else to make up for the pay cut I took last year. And I want every summer off. And I want, I want, I want....

I am so sick of whiny teachers. But then they are doing it all "for the kids", aren't they.

How can you be so hateful about the persons who teach our society's children?

Your anger towards the teachers is misdirected.

What if I told you about a governor who ran on a platform of "fiscal responsibility" and then started his new session by passing a new bill that added an unfunded $140M in spending to the budget.

An then that same governor declared there's deficit in the budget of $137M that must be taken out of the state's working middle class.

That governor is Walker. This is his own doing. These are his political games at work.

Yawn...

Just how much will this "sick" day cost us beyond our kids lost school day?

Can a taxpayer (i.e., the teacher's real boss) have a "free day" - no taxes?
