THI 2.0

The Herald Independent has upgraded their website, making it easier to read and navigate.  You will find THI stories and news updated all week long, so you don't have to wait until Thursday to find out what's going on.  I hope you are reading it, and don't forget to click on the ads and support the advertisers who make your local paper possible!

P.S. A "Family Feud" graphic? Was that really necessary?

I'll start reading THI when they stop printing Richard Kerr's drivel.

What? I don't know him, or anything about CG politics, but he was right on about the School Board candidates.

Thanks for the post, Peter.

I have a question for anonymous (#1): So you have a problem with clearly labeled opinions being printed, or only those you disagree with? Say what you will about Mr. Kerr's opinions, but at least he is willing to own them by signing his name. If you feel so strongly about those letters, I would encourage you to respond to his remarks with a letter to the editor of your own in the future, rather than posting anonymous complaints on Mr. Sobol's blog, which do nothing to help the community.

Sincerely,
Adam Mella

As my tag notes above, I support anonymous posts. In an ideal world, an anonymous post lets everyone just hear an idea, and not associate race/class/personal history/other motives to the thought. People can then weigh the ideas on their own.

On the national level, there seems to be some opposition to the President's ideas because of his heritage and/or political party. I suspect if the same ideas came from an anonymous source, some would have more support.

There are drawbacks from it too, especially since people can appear to be more then one person, and can type rumors and slander. I tend to ignore these, but clearly not everyone does.

With regards to the above, I support the Herald's printing of letters to the editor, even when I don't agree with the letters, but also think Anonymous letters and posts have merit. More participation in government includes participation with those you don't agree with, and you can disagree with an idea if it has a name next to it or not. The rules of this blog are pretty easy to follow, and I enjoy reading the civil and constructive ideas.
