The chicken hatches...

The chicken that we've been counting for months has finally hatched as the Madison School Board at long last approved the lease & operating agreement to house the Nuestro Mundo school at Maywood.
As reported in the WSJ.

This will have a positive impact on the district finances and provide a unique opportunity for students in our district.

With all due respect to the hours upon hours of planning and evaluating that was put in by the stakeholders, the administration and others, I hope the board honors the process. That being said, put things back into the District using the same process you did to cut them and simply move the bar back up by any amount that you wish to use with operating budget. If a chunk needs to go into Fund 10 then put it their. But why have a process and not honor it all the way through. Again, put things back in using the priority system that they were taken out!

Put things back? In what world is that going to happen? The school board needs to make even more cuts for the following year! Even if they could add something back for the upcoming year, it would just be cut again. WAKE UP!

Yes put things back. I AM AWAKE and it is in the MG WORLD. Next years cuts are based on things for next year. What to do with this windfall of money was a large discussion at a recent schol board meeting. At the time, the lease agreement was not approved, and the discussion was putting the cart before the horse. Now theat the Board has "new revenue" for next year, the amount they need to cut for next year is actually a considerable ammount less. The discussion involved some potential picking of items from the list as opposed to simply moving the line up and replacing items in the reverse order they were cut.
